General Principles

• This is university.

• I do not take attendance, although I have a general idea of who shows up regularly.

• Work and effort in my classroom must be consistent with a university environment:

  • If you want to text, don't come.

  • If you want to surf, don't come.

  • If you want to talk with a classmate, go out in the hall, if it's that important.

  • These actions respect neither me nor your classmates, and certainly don't show initiative.

• Should the attendance or class performance decline, I will institute and adhere to structure that links attendance, both to class and in class, to marks.

• If it seems that I am interrupting your texting/browsing I will demand that you leave.
